We had a total of 80 members brave this cool late fall day to enjoy the best the club has to offer on this holiday season. There was way too much food with may excellent examples of what members cooked up. Had an excellent time. We are actually getting better at singing Bad to the Bone, and the 12 days of Buick parts actually went well.

Once again an excellent seminar with the entire crew of PT&E introduced and the latest in turbos described. Great session with about 65 Turbo Regal and SyTy fans in attendance.

ATR Motorsports, Inc. |
While Scott Jakubowski's goal of testing 25 cars was not met, we did pulls on 24 cars. What a demonstration of Buick power. Steve Pitts kept the king of the hill title, but Aaron Munds and Keith Egan were very close to taking his title. This was our forth event here and we have plans to return in the Spring. Al Thompson the owner is a kick to work with and will become our newest advertiser. If you have a chance please be sure to thank him for the use of his time and the shop.

BCA Car Show |
Marquardt Buick |
This was the fifth annual show with excellent weather until about 2:30 when the cool front went through. This was the forth year for CCGSCA's participation in this great show. The number of Skylarks/GS and Turbo Regals/GN at this show grows every year. The dealor participation with coffee and dounuts and lunch as well as all the trophies and door prizes is outstanding. This is a great wrap us to the car show season.

Gary Pote guided us through 4 test and tune runs and a great set of elimination runs. Ron Leak was not there to yell at us and the day was clear and crisp. Many folks had their best run ever including B4Black, Mary F, and Marilyn B.The racing results are as follows:

BCA Car Show

This was a new event for the BCA since the local Buick franchise was purchased by Ettleson. For short notice CCGSCA participation was good. Buicks unfortunately were outnumbered by the Cadilacs and Oldsmobiles by a huge factor.

Midwest Buick Challenge
|
US 41 Dragway |
Our fifth annual Midwest Buick Challenge was definately our best ever. We have to thank the Indiana Chapter whos growing presence is appreciated. We would espically would like to thank Scott Simpson, Lonnie Diers, Bobb Makley, Norm Dihle and Bob Ross, for running their respective events on Saturday. The heads up races of TSM, GSE and GS-SA, brought a lot of very fast cars to Morocco, and added a lot of excitement to the event.
Sunday was off to a slow start, with the rain delay, but the full program was run with members being able to test and tune as much as they wanted. Great event.

The number of GS Club members who participate in these fine BCA event is excellent. These are excellent car shows in which there is an open invitation to our members. This was my first time to this show, which was great. CCGSCA participating members amount to a third of participants in these car shows.

Was great having a cruise at the extreme south side, to see those members who seldom venture north. Had about 25 members with all sorts of Performance Buicks wonder in an out. The food was excellent, the bar was great, and some members even bowl a mean game.

About 20 of us braved the heat to show and talk Buicks with our Friends. Great time with quite a collection of GS, Turbo Regals and other great performance Buicks. Really stirred up a lot of interest.
Our carshow with the Woodridge Police department had 210 cars register with many members coming in an out as they had other commitments. We did have one very impressive array of Turbo Regals, Gran Sports and performance Buicks overall. Very sunny day turned cloudy with the temperature staying moderate until the 3:00 o'clock downpour suddenly came up. We tallied the winners in the rain. It was really close.

We had a great time in the heat as the track was not busy. The early birds got four runs in before eliminations, with tuning and testing thereafter. Would like to thank the Rix family for participating, as the racers and spectators that came out to cheer us on. Ken Stasiak did a great job of keeping us in line so that track owner Ron Leak did not have to yell at us. Paul DuBois anticipating breakage brought a spare trailor to help the crippled home. It was not needed. So far the points stack up as follows:

Annual Picnic
|
Ken & Liz Stasiak |
The Stasiak family opened up their home for our club's Annual Picnic. One feature available were morning sessions and afternoon sessions at Ace Auto Salvage in Tonica, IL. For the 25 folks that went their hospitality and the fun of collecting those parts made for an unbeatable combination.
At the Stasiak we were made to feel at home with a shaded yard and cool breezes for an great place to relax. We are wondering if Bob N is really going to buy the house next door.
As one member mentioned while walking around Ace, "this is a combination of going to a car show (with lots of dented cars) and a swap meet rolled into one".
For those of you there it was a veritable downpour with our tent in the niddle of a giant pond. Needless to say for the second year in a row circumstances prevented our meeting.

The event was weathered out. There was light rain, lots of wind from the west and it was just too cold out there. Ron Leek has given us June 2nd as a rain date. Please get the word out to you fellow racers.
Nick Finnen (815-726-7866)invited our Chapters members to dyno test our cars on his equipment. This session was aranged and coordiunated by Scott Jakubowski. It was great seeing all the Buick Horsepower. Thanks to Scott Jakubowski here are the results for your enjoyment. These are rear wheel results. For flywheel HP divide by 75%.

This was our third meeting at Pete Barton's great facility, and our second annual Chili cookoff. Winners of the Chili cookoff were Debbie Jones, Liz Stasiak and Tammy Fry. We had 10 chilis and most folks had a tough time deciding which they liked. We counted 103 members at the facility at one point. Our Technical Session Featured Paul Ferry with HRpartsNstuffand Mike Philips with Automotive Machine and Performance. These are the best at what they do. As Mike says it may be a long drive, but AMP works on Buick engines everyday not just now and then. Paul Ferry produces innovative products that we need for our Buicks that nobody else produces. From the urethane motor mounts, heavy duty for link suspension parts to differential bushing pullers his product array is constantly expanding.
This was one great session from the Krispy Kreems that Jimmy brought, through lunch that the gang brought in. The information that John Spina and Jimmy Hussion gave us was great. The 70 members that attended asked excellent questions and we all had a great time not leaving until about 3:00 PM. Please thank these valuable supporters of our chapter with your business.

The 2002 World of Wheels had more cars than ever. They were oversubscribed by 60 cars. The evening before was our banner snow storm for the season. Through the adversity all but one of our participating members made it into the show. We had a great exhibit, but had no Gran Sports to show off.Cruise and Car Show Chairman Chris Gatch would like to thank all the members who made the commitment to show their car at this great show and those who stopped by to encourage our members.

Our first meeting of the year was held at Hubcaps Diner in Schiller Park, IL. This was a well attended with about 40 Performance Buick participants.Dan Squires presented rebuilding with tune and testing techniques for our favorite carburetor the Rochester Quadrajet. Our GS guys were really paying attention as lots of great questions were covered. We definately should do this again.
